Obituaries: Marvin J. Schilling

Marvin J. Schilling, 82, of Rocky Hill and former Bristol resident, husband of Audrey (Wilson) Schilling, passed away on Friday (July 22, 2016) at Hartford Hospital.  Marvin was born in Bristol on March 16, 1934 and was a son of the late Joseph and Malvina (Phaneuf) Schilling.  He was a United States Marine Corp veteran, serving during the Korean War and retired from Marlin-Rockwell in 1987.  Marvin loved to go fishing and frequently visited the OTB.  Marvin enjoyed working in his yard and fixing things but his true passion was for being with his family.  Besides his wife, Marvin is survived a son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth and Kathy Schilling, of Rocky Hill; three daughters and a son-in-law: Carrie Tie, of Naugatuck, Janet and Dan Mulcahy, of Bristol and Patricia Schilling, of Unionville; two brothers: Dave and Henry Schilling; a sister: Florence Warner; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one on the way and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by five brothers: William , James, Charles, Paul and Carl and eight sisters: Malvina, Charlotte, Georgianna, Elizabeth, Pauline, Anna, Josephine and Pearl. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016, 11 AM at the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
