Irene L. (Lamothe) Taylor, 91, of Bristol, widower of Alvin Ray Taylor, passed away as the sun was rising on Sunday (March 6, 2016). She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness which she fought with grace, patience, and determination. Irene was born in Plainville on September 30, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Hector and Ida (Lagasse) Lamothe. She was a lifelong Bristol resident where she graduated from Bristol High School. After she raised her family, she went to work for Wallace Barnes until retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Bristol Women’s Club where she was past president and received the Woman of the Year award. Irene enjoyed swimming three times a week and then going out to lunch with her swim friends. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, Bristol. Irene is survived by three children: Jack Taylor of Cromwell, Betty Taylor, and her husband, Thomas Bober, of Bristol, and Laura Taylor of Farmington; son-in-law: Wesley Rochelle of Bristol; a brother: Norman Lamothe of Burlington; five grandchildren: Kyle Rochelle, Stephanie Taylor, Stacey Rochelle, Adam Taylor, and Amanda Howard; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Rochelle, two brothers: Harry and William Lamothe, and three sisters: Jeannette Richardson, Lucille Bates, and Rita Creedon. The family thanks Violet Scarlett-Reeves-“the best caregiver ever”-who made it possible for Irene to remain in her home of 65 years and also Masonicare Hospice for their support and care in the last few months. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (March 10, 2016) at 10 AM at Prospect United Methodist Church, 99 Summer St., Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Wednesday between 6 and 8 PM.
