The Art League of New Britain is announcing The Blue Show 2014, an exhibit celebrating “BLUE,” in both art and mood. The show will run from Friday, March 14 to Sunday, April 6 at 30 Cedar St. in New Britain. An Opening Reception will be on Friday, March 14, from 6 to 9 p.m., with snacks and refreshments. Eligible entries include drawing, watercolor, easel painting, mixed media, collage, photographs, digital work, or sculpture. Work should be predominantly blue, or focus on blue, or express the mood blue. Judging the show for prizes will be psychologist Jocelyn Chen, Ph.D. Dr. Chen has been a psychologist in the public sector for school districts in Connecticut, currently in New Britain, and in the private sector as a corporate industrial psychologist. At WesternConnecticutStateUniversity, one of the courses Dr. Chen teaches is “Psychology of Creativity,” which discusses how a visual artist creates an artwork or the art-making process as it reflects the perceptual/cognitive, neuroaesthetics, and personality factors of the artist.
