Caring for Kids holding strawberry fest, vendor fund raiser June 11

Bristol has a non-profit 501(c) 3 that helps children with catastrophic illnesses and/or special needs,. Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, which has been fund raising for children and their families since 1994.

raiser on Saturday, June 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 355 Camp St., Bristol.

There will be free kids’ activities: touch a truck with the Bristol Fire Department and a D’Amato Construction truck, bouncy house, face painting, enviroscape, games and prizes. There will be fresh strawberry shortcake, chocolate covered strawberries, hot dogs, chili and/or sauerkraut, chips and drinks.

C4K raised funds last year for a wheelchair accessible van for Jake, 8, who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. SMA is a disease that affects every muscle in the body, which becomes weak. His family is the 15th family Gloria Dei/Caring for Kids’ has helped over the years. Additionally, C4K helped with house modifications to make it accessible and was able to obtain a Home Depot grant that provided volunteers who helped with painting and building a wheelchair ramp from the garage into the house, etc.

Caring for Kids is now helping Gabby, 8, who needs an augmentative communication device.
