Once again, the Pride of Bristol Girls Little League Softball found itself at the pay window again after challenging a couple out of town foes.
The Pride tangled with two squads from Plainville this past week and came away victorious in each encounter.
The Bristol team started off with a 15-2 triumph over Plainville Blue.
Grace D’Amato and Zoe Lowe led the charge with two hits apiece while Sarah O’Day smacked in two runs with a two-base hit to lead the Bristol charge.
Lorelei Stancavage, Sophia Bouchard, Leah Chipman and Olivia Darby all nabbed an RBI single, padding the offensive tally.
Darby pitched a one-hitter as she struck out three batters and issued one walk to grab the win.
Defensively, Zoe Lowe was outstanding at shortstop as she made three big plays including a double play.
Adding to the defensive collective, Kayleigh Dionne – playing centerfield for the Pride – made a strong throw to cut down a Plainville runner attempting to advance to third base.
And then against Plainville Blue, it was more of the same.
In that one, the crafty Darby went 3-for-3, belting a solo and two-run home run, leading the Pride over Plainville Blue by a 13-11 final.
Adding to the offensive onslaught, Ashley Serafin went 3-for-3, driving in three runs, while Alicia Rappelyea added two hits and zipped up two RBI.
Kayleigh Dionne, O’Day and Chipman each smacked out a hit to lead the Pride.
Angelina Selvaggi showed grit in the field, playing a solid game at first base defensively.
Again, Darby was the winning pitcher of record with seven strikeouts, two walks while giving up five hits overall.
