Obituaries: Edward J. Daly

Edward J. Daly, 79, of Bristol, widower of Elizabeth (Chaples) Daly, died on Wednesday (May 4, 2016) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.   Edward was born in Waterbury on August 28, 1936 and was one of two children of the late Edward M. and Claire (Berube) Daly.  He was raised and attended school in Waterbury graduating from Wilby High School.  He then went on to attend St. Michael’s College in Vermont and served in the United States Army.  A Bristol resident since 1972, he worked various places including Timex and retired as a systems analyst from Cigna.  He enjoyed playing cribbage and set-back and was an active dad raising his two sons.  He more recently enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  Edward is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law: Edward J., Jr. and Barbara Daly of Bristol, and Ernest and Catherina Daly of Torrington; five grandchildren: Erin, Ryan, Emily, and Paige Daly, and Danielle Brochu; two nieces, and three nephews.  He was predeceased by his younger sister: Dorothy Partiss.  Funeral services will be held on Monday (May 9, 2016) at 9 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Gregory Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.   Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Sunday between 4 and 7 PM.
