Joseph A. “Ron” Barie Sr., 71, of Burlington, widower of Kathleen (Blum) Barie, passed away at Bristol Hospital on Thursday (Mar. 3, 2016). Ron was born in Bristol on May 27, 1944 to the late Theodore and Blanche (Carreau) Barie. Ron was raised in Bristol until moving to Burlington in 1964. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving for several years. He spent his career working as a Supervisor at New Departure until retiring after 35 years in 1995. During retirement he worked at the Armology of Connecticut. Ron is survived by his fiancé: Judie Johnson Schlagel, of West Springfield, MA; son and daughter-in-law: Joseph and Cheli Barie Jr., of Mystic; daughter: Lisa Marie Woodcox, of Burlington; sister and brother-in-law: Jeanne and Charlie Poirier, of FL; four grandchildren: Eric Woodcox, Sean Woodcox, R.J. Comerford, Jack Barie; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave, Bristol CT 06010 on Thursday (Mar. 10, 2016) between 4 and 7PM. Funeral services for Ron will be celebrated on Friday (Mar. 11, 2016) at St. Andrew Lutheran Church at 11AM. Burial will follow with a procession to Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.
