Kent Louis Michaud of Bristol passed away courageously and peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 19, 2016 from an aggressive Glioblastoma. Kent was born in Southington, Connecticut on June 21, 1957. He is the son of Bernice Bard Michaud and the late Emile Michaud.  He was one of three brothers and an older sister. Kent’s mom recalls him as being a kind-hearted soul, with an infectious and warm personality. He attended Bristol Schools and graduated Bristol Eastern High School. From all accounts, he remained just as caring and compassionate as a teen and had a very easy going disposition, which drew many people to him. In 1981 he met his future wife, Judy, where she worked in a restaurant. Kent would come in many times a week and the two both being too shy for their own good, would only partake in casual conversation. It took a fellow employee to finally break the ice and officially introduce them to each other. Kent and Judy married in August of 1985 and were extremely blessed with three beautiful children, Danielle Sara, Christopher Thomas, and Nicole Kelsey. He was never a materialistic sort of man. He enjoyed doing work with his hands, so he was very accomplished at auto maintenance, any type of household repair and as his sister, Mary had coined him, as the original “MacGyver” because of his keen ability to design things out of scratch and develop unbelievable creations. He might have, if pointed in the right direction, given the inventors of our generation a run for their money. He loved aviation, cars, animals, gardening, history and music. Kent played the bass guitar and dappled with other instruments, as well. His enjoyment of music was a running thread in his life. Kent was self- taught and would often just hear a song and have the musical ability to play it in its entirety. He loved Rush, Yes, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Vince Gill and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Kent also “learned” to appreciate the sport of football and many a Sunday evening would be poised in front of the television with his family, eating pizza and cheering on our Denver Broncos.   For 28 years Kent was a fixture at Trumpf Manufacturing in Farmington, Connecticut. He enjoyed being a contributing member of the team. He was so much more than just an employee; he was the consummate innovator. He also sat on many committees such as the First Responders and the Safety Team.   Kent is survived by his wife of 31 years, Judy Altieri Michaud. He leaves behind three children, Danielle Michaud, Nicole Michaud and Christopher and his wife, Brittany of Colorado. Also, he is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Mary Anne and Lenny Brzozowski of Florida, Clark and Lisa Michaud of Bristol and Michael Michaud and his long- time companion, Robin, both from Southington. Kent also leaves behind a beautiful granddaughter, Arya Michaud of Colorado. Kent has numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as other relatives scattered about the country. With much regret, Kent leaves his faithful companion, his dog, Cooper behind as well.  Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Friday (January 22, 2016) between 4 and 6 PM followed by a memorial service commencing at 6 PM.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Kent and Judy always had a deep appreciation for the work that Danny and Marlo Thomas did with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In lieu of flowers please consider helping children with cancer through this charity: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  Please visit Kent’s memorial web-site at www.FUNKFUNERALHOME.com.Michaud, Kent rotated
