On Tuesday, Jan. 5, Bristol Democrats will vote for 54 town committee members: six from each of the town’s nine voting districts.
“The primary mission of the Bristol Democratic Town Committee is to select, develop and elect qualified candidates who exemplify the ideals of the Democratic party,” Connecticut’s Democratic party platform states. “We will be on the side of people striving for good jobs at fair wages, quality health care,educational excellence, prudent fiscal management, and an equal opportunity to achieve the American dream.”
The voting will take place in the format of a caucus meeting, which begins promptly at 7 p.m.; latecomers may not be eligible to vote. There are three caucus locations: if your voting location is Edgewood School, Northeast Middle School, or Mountain View School, your town committee voting will be held at Mountain View School; if your voting location is Chippens Hill Middle School, West Bristol School, or South Side School, your town committee voting will be held at South Side School; if your voting location is Bristol Eastern High School, The B.P.O.E (Elks Club), or Greene-Hills School, your town committee voting will be held at Greene-Hills School.
Any Bristol resident who registers to vote with the Democratic party is eligible to vote and/or run for a town committee seat on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. To check your voter registration, your voting location, and party affiliation go www.sots.ct.gov.
