Flood of ’55 topic of presentation next Thursday

The Bristol Historical Society’s president, Tom Dickau, will be presenting a multimedia presentation entitled, “The Flood of 1955: The 60th Anniversary” on Thursday, Aug. 20 at the Bristol Historical Society, 98 Summer St., at 7 p.m. This film is part of the Third Thursday Programs sponsored by The Program Committee. See actual film footage, as well as, a comprehensive array of images depicting the catastrophic damage that occurred during this flood. Learn why the flood occurred, the areas covered, the required emergency efforts implemented, the aftermath recovery and the implementations put in place to prevent similar future events. The Bristol/Forestville area will be highlighted during this presentation.

The program is free for members, with a $5 admissions charge for non-members. The BHS is air-conditioned. Refreshments will be served both before and after the program.
