History Room open July 10

In addition to its normal hours, the Bristol History Room, which houses the local history collection of the Bristol Public Library, will be open to the public from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10. Visitors will have a chance to win a free copy of the book “Images of Bristol.” The room has books about Bristol, pictures and postcards, maps, diaries, church and assessor’s records, newspapers on microfilm, cemetery, birth, death and marriage indexes, city directories and yearbooks. On permanent display are nearly a hundred historic images of Bristol including an entire wall devoted to Lake Compounce. There is also a temporary display of objects manufactured by local companies including New Departure and the American Silver Company.
