Leaf bag collection will begin April 6 in Bristol and run through May 1.
For these four weeks, the city will collect bagged leaves at the curb in recyclable paper bags. Please do not put sod, sand, brush, or woodchips in leaf bags. Place leaf bags at the curb when full for collection.
Yard waste (green barrel) collection begins for paid subscribers the week of April 6 and will continue weekly through Nov. 14. The city asks residents to put only grass, leaves, woodchips, and small twigs in the green barrel. No sod, rocks, sand, or flower pots are allowed. Make sure the 2015 paid sticker is on the barrel. Information is available on line at www.bristolct.gov/yardwaste.
For spring cleaning:
Bulk pick up collections (items too large for the rubbish barrel) are available by appointment to residents that have city rubbish/recycle collection. One free collection is available per calendar year per address. Additional collections are available for $25 each. Information is available at www.bristolct.gov/bulk. Call Public Works to schedule. Renters should have their landlord call to schedule.
Disposal methods for common items are published on the web site at www.bristolct.gov/disposal.
