Friends of the library award grants to staff members for programs

The Grant Committee of the Friends of the Bristol Public Library have awarded to staff members three $500 grants for programs to be offered in the following months. The recipients are as follows:

Deborah Prozzo: Portrait of Vincent Van Gough

This program featuring the life an art of Van Gough will be presented as part of the adult summer reading theme: “Outside the Ordinary.” An actor portraying Van Gough in “Vincent: A Portrait” by the Postman Roulin, a reading and discussion of “Leaving Van Gough” by Carol Wallace and a visit to the Wadsworth Atheneum will be included.

Scott Stanton: Coffee House Series

This program is a follow up to the successful Coffee House Series piloted fall 2014. Three musical performances for adults and young adults will be offered evenings in the spring. Among the programs will be a performance by New York City singer/songwriter Sheri Miller.

Heather Torres: Pop Up Tinker Lab

The program will include activities for ages 3 to Preschool such as learning with light, color and prisms. Ages 5 to 8 will build with nuts, bolts, and wrenches as one of its activities. Ages 8 to 10 will be working with “STEM Learning Labs: Alarms, Space Landers and Marble Run.” “The Pop Up Tinker Lab” will be brought out for scheduled programming as well as spur of the moment Pop Up Programs.

The Bristol Public Library website will list specific dates and more information as the programs occur. Friends of the Library will provide refreshments.
