Children’s Holiday Festival begins Nov. 28; Parade in reverse on Dec. 7

The 24th annual Children’s Holiday Festival is coming. The schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, Nov. 28

The “Festival of Trees”

Stop by the Bristol Libraries to view the decorated trees to be on display throughout the holiday season. The event is sponsored by The Friends of the Bristol Public Library.

Nov. 28 – Dec. 7

Be sure to stop in the American Clock & Watch Museum at 100 Maple Street and visit the gift shop for your holiday gift giving. Call (860)583-6070 or clockandwatchmuseum.org

Sunday, Nov. 30

3 – 5 p.m. “Santa Sunday” will be held at The New England Carousel Museum, 95 River-side Avenue. Santa Sunday kicks off the Holiday Cele-bration for the City of Bristol. This annual holiday party for children is an opportunity to see Santa, enjoy refreshments and entertainment. (860)585-411

Tuesday, Dec. 2

The 63rd Annual Bristol Carol Sing

The 24th Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony

7 – 8 p.m. – The Greater Bristol Chamber of Commerce Holiday Festival Committee and Webster Bank have teamed up to sponsor this festive annual holiday event.

The event will take place outdoors in front of the main entrance to Webster Bank (150 Main St.) It features Mary Lynn Gagnon as master of ceremonies, St. Joseph Church Children and Youth Choirs under the direction of Jean Degan, soloists – Allen Stone and Katie Chamberlain, local pageant winners and Santa. The mayor will flip the magic switch that turns on the holiday lights.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 3

4– 6 p.m. – The New England Carousel Museum, 95 Riverside Ave., will sponsor “A Holiday Ornament Making Session.”

Cookies and juice will be provided.

The cost per ornament is $4.

Friday, Dec. 5

Family Festival. 5 – 8 p.m.

Embark on a magical holiday journey as the Imagine Nation Museum, One Pleasant St., Bristol, is transformed into Dr Seuss’ Whoville. There will be crafts, sing-alongs and special visitors including the Grinch, his dog Max, Cindy-Lou Who, and the Mayor of Whoville. Pizza, soda, and ice cream will be available for purchase at our old-fashioned soda fountain. Admission is $60 per person. Children under 1 are free. Saturday, Dec. 6

18th Annual St. Matthew School Craft/Vendor Show at 33 Welch Dr., Bristol from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be hand-crafted items, one-of-a-kind gifts, jewelry, candles, specialty foods, baked goods, raffle, free make-n-take for the kids.

Admission is $1.

 

Saturday, Dec. 6

From 8:30 to 11 a.m., the 21st Annual Breakfast with Santa will be held at the Giamatti Little League Center Complex on Mix Street.

Children under 12 are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased in advance by bringing one new unwrapped toy or making a $5 donation to the Little League Center. Toys will be donated to the Secret Santa Society.

Local pageant winners will be entertaining the children while they enjoy breakfast and their visit with Santa.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Ultimate Helicopter LLC invites you to sit in a helicopter. Pilot Paul Blanchette will speak with the children about what it’s like to fly a helicopter and answer any questions they may have. This event will take place in the hangar located at 200 Central St. in Forestville – rain, snow or shine. Refreshments will be available.

 

The 11th Annual Holiday Showcase of Stars – “Rejoice!” will be held at 7 p.m. at St. PaulCatholicHigh School, 1001 Stafford Ave.

Sunday, Dec. 7th

Children’s Holiday Parade

The 24th Annual Children’s Holiday Parade will be held at 1 p.m. The children will participate in a “Parade in Reverse.” The children walk the parade route past the entertainers/participants who line the route. The parade steps off the Federal Hill Green. Cancellation of the Parade due to weather will be announced on the Central CT/Bristol Chamber website. www.CentralCTChambers.org Snow date is Sunday, Dec. 14.
