Access Health CT is the first state-based health exchange to launch an online avatar to help consumers through the process of comparing plans and shopping for quality, affordable health care coverage.

Named “Tina,” this virtual assistant offers guidance and answers to consumer questions on the AHCT website.

“During the 2014 open enrollment, 45 percent of qualified health plan enrollees and 40 percent of Medicaid enrollees enrolled by themselves online,” said Jim Wadleigh, Acting CEO of Access Health CT, in a press release. “While the website functioned well for those consumers, our goal during the 2015 open enrollment cycle is to make the process even easier, and encourage even more consumers to use the online system.”

AHCT worked with CodeBaby, a global customer engagement and leading intelligent virtual assistant technology provider, to develop and launch Tina. Her guidance is available in 120 different places on the AHCT website, in both English and Spanish.

“Research shows that characters like Tina make online experiences easier, and can increase consumer trust in the information provided,” said CodeBaby CEO Dennis McGuire, in a press release. “We’re excited to partner with Access Health CT to offer this new feature for Connecticut consumers.”

Consumers can compare plans and shop for coverage online at www.accesshealthct.com now. The 2015 open enrollment period will continue through February 15, 2015.

Access Health CT, Connecticut’s official health insurance marketplace, is a quasi-public agency created by the Connecticut legislature in 2011 to satisfy requirements of the federal Affordable Care Act.
