The annual Wing Fest competition sponsored by the Southington Chamber Women’s Committee is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Cadillac Ranch, Jude Lane, starting at 5:30 p.m. The event is the fifth annual and is open to the public that votes for the top wings in Southington. The Wing Fest annually attracts up to 250 patrons and is used to collect toys as part of the Chamber Women’s Adopt-A-Family project that distributes the unwrapped toys for needy families in town. Participating restaurants so far include Formaggio’s, People’s Choice, Paradise Pizza, T.D. Homer’s, Chilis, Luiza’s Diner, Hawk’s Landing, Friend’s Café, Dominos, Giovannis’ Brixx and defending champion, Groggy Frogg. Each patron is encouraged to cast written ballots for the restaurants in several categories. Final results will be announced at 7:45 p.m. Also, a panel of six volunteer judges will be involved in the final judging. They include Karen Avitabile of Journeys Magazine; John Goralski, of The Observer, Peter Amenta of IMS Services, Mike Schroeder of The Herald; Chris Lineberry of L&S Automotive and Sheldon Dill of the Cheshire Chamber. Admission for the Wing Fest is $12 with an unwrapped toy or $15.
