To the editor:
Any candidate,including newcomers,should have a “body of work” upon which voters can evaluate their stand on issues they deem important. Fortunately, the voters in the 31st State Senatorial District have such a candidate in Rob Michalik.
Rob’s body of work includes:
While a member of the Plainville Town Council, he established a committee that led to a tax freeze for elderly homeowners with disabilities.
While state economic development director, Rob helped secure millions of dollars for Connecticut including small business innovation grants, funding for fire and police equipment, and personnel and funding for early education for disadvantaged 3 and 4 year olds.
Rob was also instrumental in securing more than a million dollars for veteran housing and support services in central Connecticut.
Rob will work for a Senior Center in Plymouth, which at present is one of 14 towns in the entire state without one.
While with the Department of Economic and Community Development, Rob worked on the Small Business Express program, which has assisted more than 1,000 small businesses and has worked extensively on establishing a new Manufacturing Innovation Fund that assists with investment in equipment, technology, and competitiveness— and grow jobs.
Given this kind of resume, it would seem to me the question is a clear one: should you vote for a “name,” or should you vote for a candidate with a clear “body of work” who is ready to roll up his sleeves and hit the ground running on day one?
I sincerely hope you will join me on Tue. Nov. 4 and vote for Rob Michalik for state senator in the 31st district.
