HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Absentee ballots are now available for registered voters in Connecticut.

Voters can download an application for an absentee ballot from the Secretary of the State’s website or contact their local town clerk to apply in-person or through the mail.

Typically, the ballots are sent to applicants within days once applications are submitted and accepted.

Absentee ballots must be signed and returned through mail or in-person. They must be received no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 4.

Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said citizens should also be aware they have until Oct. 21 to register online or by mail in order to vote in the general election. They have until Oct. 28 to register in person at their city or town offices.
